Having problem adding picture to post.
#1
Is it just me (again) having issues adding pictures to the post, black box at bottom of the text box.
Also the images I have added before are currently not available for viewing.
I guess there may be a problem with the host, I don't know.
Stanglover.

EDIT: I see that others have added pictures since I posted this, but I still can not access them. Hmm.

Ah! today I see all the pictures are back. Hopefully it's fixed now.
Thanks to whom ever was responsible for getting it working again.
Geoff.

Sorry man...I got your email but haven't had time to reply!  I just ran a orphan image cache and it seems to be ok...just let me know if you see anything else strange with images.

Ok thanks for doing this. Was it just my account or everybody? Some seemed to be posting pic okay.

I think it was actually ImgBB...the 3rd party image host that some members use.  It is linked to the add photos button on our post screen.  They must have had a server down or something.  I have seen it happen several times but they come back up with no issues.  That is not related to our site or servers...it's just an image hosting service.  You can bypass that and upload your pics straight to the forum but that uses up your allowed upload space.  It is more reliable however!

I see, well I don't, but I'll take your word for it as I know nothing about this sort of stuff. If it works for me great, if not I'm screwed!
Actually I was up till recently, adding attachments right up until I used up my allocation, then I thought "Oh well, I'll just delete then from MY allotment" That as you probably know, didn't work out too well for me as I lost all the pics I had posted to the forum. That said I do understand there has to be a limit on stuff like that. If not you'd need a huge warehouse for just the forum's servers or whatever.
Anyway, thanks for explaining what likely happened. It was a bit frustrating at the time, but all seems good now. I will in future try to remember to reduce the file size so as to take up less space. I tend to leave my camera on high res.
Thanks for your time,
Geoff.

Yes, working in IT I did make note that this was the issue.  So it really wasn't the 7173 site, it was the ImgBB site that could not be reached.  They could have had a maintenance window to perform some tasks overnight, etc.  I take down some of my own resources briefly, and depending on what I'm doing I don't notify all of the users.

Yeah, I wish we could just have unlimited upload for everyone but we would run out of disc space on the server in a week, LOL!

Thanks Rocketfoot and all for your comments and input. Now I know it was not the fault of the Forum. I'll just have to be more patient next time and just wait.
