Hi everybody! Joined your community after viewing it for a while and liking it a lot! I have a ´71 mach 1 with a 460 engine currently being brought back to life. I have had the car since I was 18 but it has been sitting in my garage for about 12 years I´m afraid. Now it is time to get it moving again. I can´t wait to drive it once more!

It started up quite nicely after I cleaned the carb (Holley 0-3310 750cfm mod.) and the entire ignition system. (Ignitor, Bosch racing coil, 8mm Ford Motorsport cables). I have a mild cam on it now but want to change to a Crane thumpr (289/304). It has a cast iron Cobra Jet intake with the DOVE heads 75 chambers with stock valves and a port matching to the intake/headders. (1 7/8" - 3,5" Hooker Headders) I have a aluminum intake (Offenhauser Port-O-Sonic) but I don´t know how good it is compared to the stock CJ? I'm thinking about a Weiand Stealth intake to go with it or buying a combo from a friend. (Victor + Holley Dominator 1050) What do you think?

It did backfire a bit but after changing the plugs and cleaning the wires it stopped. In fact it has been running perfectly until just recently. The starter just clicks once and then it does´t start. I have checked all the wires and replaced them as I go along but still no solution. Tapped the solenoid and hoped but to no avail I´m afraid... Sad Anyone got any suggestions or do I have to buy a new starter? It did fire once when I jumped it with my other car but now I just clicks jumped or not. Please help!

I rebuilt the alternator after bringing it to a local shop for testing and hopefully it works fine. (replaced brushes and bearings + connections) In the next couple of weeks I will continue to work my way towards a fully functional car. Naturally I changed oil and filter in engine, trans and bled the brakes. It was sanded roughly 15 years ago and primed where sanded. I have started to repair minor rust with a good friend of mine (professional welder) but to be honest it does´t have to much rust on it. It's going to be painted a flat black with flat orange striping hood/roof/lid.

I have pulled the original seats and bought a pair of racing seats with tilt. A new floor mat and aluminum inserts. New LED lights in the dash and new wiring. I was thinking of replacing the stock console with a custom one designed by me. (I have another friend with a laser cutter) I want to be able to turn in back to stock in the future. Carbon/aluminium will be the choice for the custom console. I have new gauges for water,volt,oil.temp,oil.pressure,vacuum and a 5" tach with shiftlight.

I have recently ordered a B&M bandit shifter. When everything is done I'm planning to integrate my iPad as a main unit located low in the center dash/console tilted in a 45 degrees upwards for good visibility. I have bought two JBL amplifiers, 1x1500w + 4x125w and I'm going to use my "old" speakers. 4" + 1" Rockford Fosgate in front. Alpine reference 6 1/5" Rear. Rockford Fosgate audiophile 8" subs (rear side) and a new MTX 1500w sub in the back. I know, the v8 sounds more then enough but some stereo can be nice sometimes... Smile

A brand new exhaust built by a professional shop is also in the works. 3" all the way with some nice quiet mufflers. (yup, thats right!!! I have 3" electric cutouts after the headers so I can still make some noice... Smile )

Anyways, I'm glad to be a member here and I hope I'll find some good advise and inspiration among you all, fellow mach'ers! Rev on friends!

Thanks! Battery is band new and starts other car without a hiccup! (Optima 800 Red) I think it is the starter... It sits tight but I guess I have no choice.

If you replace the starter, go ahead and replace the starter solenoid as well. It is cheap and will save you some headaches.

Look for a ford gear reduction starter that will fit your application. You will have to wire it up differently but it will be lighter and stronger and leave more room for headers etc. They are also less prone to heat absorption. For my 351C 4 speed I used one for a early 1990's full sized bronco with a 5 preed and it worked perfectly

"I love my Hookers!" and "Get some Strange" probably have a different connotation to non automotive enthusiasts!
