Gauge cluster removal
#1
I have taken all the screws out of the black plastic housing on the gauge cluster as well as the steering column screws. I know the panel is tucked under the dash pad a little, but I'm having a little trouble getting it out. I need it out of the way b/c the only way I can fix the convertible top switch is looking down from the top...I'm at the end of my rope trying to work blind not seeing the wires on the back. Thanks alot everyone!

it has like 6 screws to come out and then you nee to pull out on the driver side dash pad a little to get it out from under it and it should come right out just took mine out to put in new gauges

The best way I found to change the top switch was to take the dash pad off and then take the speedo cluster out .....this gives you access to the the switch
I think there about 8 screws holding the dash pad on ....
and about 5 holding the speedo cluster trim on then your down to 4 holding the cluster in place.

The speedo cable is holding it back, so that needs to be removed and I believe it can be accessed from the top after removing the dash pad assembly.

Rear view and if you flip this around and you facing dash then cable is on right hand side.

Thanks everyone! I got the cluster off without taking the dash pad off. I now have access to the convert switch from the driver's AC vent which is a BIG help. Now that I have everything off, thinking of replacing the instrument bulbs to LED.

Thats one of the best things you can do while you have it apart......Just remember with some colors of LEDs its better to remove the diffusers.

Glad you got it off! I would also check the circuit ribbon and replace if it's starting to come apart.
