Emergency brake parts missing
#1
I will get a pic to show you better, but need an idea of what I need and where to get it.

The issue...

The guy I bought car from did a poor resto, he installed a SSBC rear disc kit, but didnt put alot of the meat and potatoes parts back on the car for the emerg brake

Have the pedal, the cable from the pedal, it runs to about half the length of th tranny where it has a metal rod/flat end if that makes any sense.

From there, nothing. I am sure there are brackets and such where it hooks up to the two rear cables. I bought the two rear cables, and I am hoping they install as easy as SSBC claims.

So, from that hard to describe situation any thoughts to what I am missing and where I can get the parts?

Sounds like you are missing 2 items,
1) a cable union where the ball ends of the 2 cables latch together. I believe I have a spare one of those around.
2) An idler hook. Essentially a 1/4 dia or so piece of steel rod bent into an elongated "C" shape that ties the passengers side cable to a bracket on the passengers side floor pan.
3) And the Spring and saddle for the end of your parking brake pedal cable.

Had a look at mustangs unlimited, so based on your pics I need;

idler bar hook

Idler bar bracket

Equalizer

Cable connector

The saddle and spring, if I buy a new cable, does that come with? I assume that end goes into what they call the equalizer

I'm new to the forum so thanks for having me.

I'm missing the same parts on mine.

I can make the equaliser and the cable idler, but I'm in Australia and part of 71-73 are not readily available.

If someone can give me the dimensions of the compression spring .i.e. Length and diameter I can try to source one from another car or even buy one on eBay.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks

Ross
