Electronic silver box
#1
I have a 71 fastback I cant figure out what that silver box is that is mounted to the front of the passenger shock tower right below the shock mount that has wires coming out of it. Where does it connect to? and can it be purchased online NEW or Used. This is my 1st ford car so I know its a dumb question but any help would be very Grateful! Thanks

That is a counterfeit  Flux Capacitor from 1971.  They have no value at all, so you should immediately remove it and send it to me for proper disposal.

Or it may be the Rev Limiter which was pretty exclusive to Boss cars and is a highly desired restoration item to complete any Boss 351.  It cancels out your spark at a pre-determined RPM(6500 I believe) so you don't throw a rod or otherwise destroy the engine.

LOL, That is one of the difficult to find pieces for a Boss or R code it is the RPM limiter that only they got.

Well,  if you are new to the Ford world I would follow this advice.

If you do not already have an original Rev Limiter in your possession don’t buy one unless you are doing a concourse restoration of. Boss car.  Many of these were discarded long ago which is why they command a high price.

If you want the protection for your engine I suggest you go with the Pertonix Flamethrower III setup as it has a programmable ev limiter built in.  For a lot less than the original setup you can have the reliability and firepower of an electronic ignition with a free programmable RPM limiter.  And it is hidden under the distributor cap for a clean look.
