Eastwood welders and plasma cutters
#1
Hey everyone. I was just wondering if anyone out there has tried Eastwoods new tig welder or plasma cutter? I bought their 175 mig welder about a year ago and love it. Great machine for the money. Have done a ton of welding with it without any problems at all. It also came with a spool gun for welding aluminum but I havent got the chance to try it out yet. They recently came out with their own plasma cutter and a tig welder. Read some good reviews about them, but was wondering if anyone on here has personally tried either of them. They are priced really well and are on sale right now. The plasma cutter runs about $640 and the tig welder run around $900. But right now they have a special running for $999 for the set!!! I am realy really tempted to buy the set and see how they perform. They claim 100% satisfaction or send them back. And have a 3 year bumper to bumper warranty. I love their mig welder and if its anything like that. the machines should perform well. Well if anyone has any thoughts on them please let me know.
Thanks Kevin

Kevin,
That's one hell of a deal! Eastwood gets good reviews and you already experienced one of their products, so can't go wrong with this deal. If I was in the Mainland and didn't have my Miller, I'd jump on this deal in a heart beat. I've still got a Tig on my wish list Angel Has to be either a Miller or Lincoln though Big Grin

I've done everything you said. Mine on 240 volt 1/2" steel plate. I had a problem with the shield around the tip. I used some broken stitching and was very close to the installation of hot metal, what happens. Proved to be a form of high temperature phenolic plastic, but not high enough to avoid melting on one side. My Hypertherm plasma cutting that had sold a few years was not isolated brass interior with insulation high temperature.

Thanks for the replies guys. I think that I am going to pull the trigger on buying them. Seem like a really good deal and had luck with their products in the past. Just was wanting to see if anyone on here has had first hand experience with any of these products.

Go for it! I don't know who makes them for Eastwood, but I'm sure it's a name brand...like sears kenmore appliances are actually made by whirlpool...ford/lincoln/merc, etc... take the name off of it and the price goes down??? Aahhhh, the joys of marketing.

I have a Hypertherm and have stuck to those as they seem to suit me., I always seem to have problems with others.
