Door Weatherstrip Too Long On My 73 Convertible
#1
I did a dry run on installing my new door weatherstrip and it is too long. I'm thinking about cutting it in the middle where it runs through a channel then shorting to the right length, but hate to do this. Anyone know if the convertible weatherstrip is different that the coupes or sportroofs. I'll check with my supplier tomorrow to double check. Any suggestions?

Bummer ! are they the Daniel Carpenter repos ? If not send them back ...The doors should all be the same...the only difference is glass..I see no separate part or listing for a vert vs coupe, fastback on door weatherstrips...Went & checked mine, I got from OMS 2 weeks ago..DC's they fit perfect !

How tight is it through the channel? Could it be stretched?

Not sure I can return because I opened them a long time ago and can't find the original packaging.

Not sure what you mean by stretching; it is too long. You can see the extra slack in pictures number 4 and 5 above.

Have the receipt ? Any way there not made correctly..your not going to stretch them that much...On a car like yours I wouldn't "Hack" job it by cutting out the center section & splicing them together..Bite the bullet..call OMS and get the right ones..(Daniel Carpenter repo's)

Same thing happened to me, I made a cut and splice at the bottom, never had any problems and you cant see it unless you lay ont the floor, I think convertible doors are different.

Ditto here and mine is a fastback.

And I think the only thing different about convertible doors is the glass.
BTW, I cur mine and glued the cut together with black weatherstrip glue and I defy you to find the splice.
cut not cur

My mustang is named Beth.

As in

Beth I hear you calling and I'll fix you right this time.
but both the kids need braces and I just can't spare a dime.
Just a few more paychecks and I'll get right back to you.
Oh Beth what can I do? Beth what can I do?

You guys ought to tell us where you got them and any identifying marks. Numbers or letters. Hopefully they have the necessary corrections by now.

Outsourcing to other country's increases profits but it sure doesn't do much for your reputation.
