Dome light brace
#1
Question about the brace running across the roof that the dome light mounts to. Mine was tack welded on each side; it seems too flimsy to have any function other than to be a mount for the dome light. Due to logistical issues it will be slightly difficult to reweld those points. In the expert opinion of this forum, would it be a bad idea to use factory tek screws to mount the brace? Would it be worth the extra time and effort to re-tack weld those points?

S,
That brace does more than mount the dome light..It's a roof support..there's supposed to be a isolator type material between it & the roof panel (kinda tar based shingle material) I just removed my brace so I can redo it with a much better hard cell foam isolator plus make it easier to rust bullet the inner roof install the raam mat..I actually picked up 2 extra braces I will be installing besides the dome light 1...so total of 3 in my car..I think you would be ok using structural panel adhesive in conjunction with STEEL 1/4" pop rivets
