distributor question
#1
I have a question about a distributor that came off of my 302 engine that was in a 73 Coupe. The distributor has two wires coming out of it, one went to the coil, the other one went????? The open wire just has a bullet type of connection on it. I was thinking it went to a tach but my car never had one, anybody knows what that wire went too.

my current rides
1973 Mustang Coupe
1989 Mercury Cougar XR7
1973 Mercury XR7 Cougar Convertible(sold)
1966 Mercury Comet 202
1985 F150 4x4
1962 Ford Fairlane 500

Stock points dizzy I've seen only came with one wire, so I assume it's electronics. If like the Pertronix setup, then red to + on coil and black to - on coil

Are the casting numbers still legible on the upper parts of the housing? If so, you can probably do a search and find out more about the distributor. Chuck

To me that does not look like factory wiring. I would say it's probably for a tach hookup.

I'm betting it goes to a condenser for radio noise suppression
