Coolant temp guage
#1
runninpony
Hey all,
I bought a set of gauges from Summit, oil pressure and water temp, I got the oil gauge hooked up fine, but the temp gauge seems to be too 'universal', to fit a cleveland block. I tried the sender location on the front of the block and it's different thread size. Is this the 'normal location' of an aftermarket gauge? What gauge would be a good one to use? Does anybody know the thread size, so I order the right one?

Why fart around with anadaptor? Just buy a new sending unit for the correct application...they aren't expensive.

The aftermarket gauge usually has a specific part number for the sending unit. However, most gauge kits supply a few adapters to mount say a 1/8" NPT into a 3/8" or 1/2" NPT hole. Any hardware store should have what you need, though. As far as the location on the water pump, yes that is a perfectly fine location for a sending unit.
