anyone know how to remove the chrome center cap on the clock arms so I can take the clock itself off the face?

The center cap is part of the second hand.
Pull, CAREFULLY, straight away from the clock face.

rocket is there any chance that the G.T. clocks came apart differently? The center post just isn't giving.

Rivets?
The face plate is held on by twisted tabs in the corners.
The movement is held to the mounting plate by press washers that lock onto the three legs.
I do not see any rivets.

the first gear driven off the time set plunger for the timing advance and retard is riveted, mine is missing teeth, already got it out, now to find a donor clock to salvage the gear from and then a rivet that will fit Smile

Apparently the rivet type is called a tinners rivet, of course I'm gonna have to find some new obscure tool and type of fastener that went out of style in the 40's but somehow got used on this car what else would I expect from the 71-73 gods.

Ah, yes. The over complicated set mechanism. I thought we were still talking about the movement.

nope movement is good, I've fixed the electric issue with the solenoid wire, cleaned and oiled everything and I could manually adjust the advance and leave it but i'm anal so I'm going to try and replace the gear.
