Clock
#1
Hello,

Have a 73 Mustang convertible with the console clock. The clock has two metal tabs/contacts on the back where the wiring harness plug attaches. I am cleaning/lubing the clock ... are the two tabs positive and negative ? Or is one positive and the metal case that the bulb sockets screw into negative ? Thanks

Imagin they form a T. The top of the tee is the ground. The lights are feed separately by a light blue wire with a red stripe. Your console harness should plug into your dash harness.

Hi,

so can I assume that the other "prong" is the positive lead ? So if I attach jumpers from the battery or another 12V source I can test the clock for function before I reinstall ? Thanks for the infor. appreciate it.

Absolutely. The other is the 12 volt positive. I've done just what you are speaking of to test the clock. Taping the positive connection for a half second will be enough to wind the clocks mainspring and test.

The clock will tick but stops fairly quickly. Have cleaned the points and lubed. When I energize the clock nothing happens. any suggestions ? There are only two contacts/ points right ? Everything else looks good ... no broken wires, etc.
