Butch & Son Build - '73 Vert
#1
Just had to drop a line tonight - We just dropped the pony off at the shop to have the new ring and pinion installed. Can't wait to see / feel the difference moving from the stock 2.75:1 to a 3.50:1. Grabbing first with the Tremec ought to be a lot more fun! It also ought to be a little easier for a newbie to learn to drive a stick. Smile

For those inquiring minds, we went with the Motive brand. I hear they've taken over Ford Racing's gear production, so there's an expectation that they are as solid a gear set as Ford was offering. And heck, if they're good enough for NASCAR.....

Hoping to be straightening the curves and flatten' the hills this weekend.
Play on Waylon!

With the Tremec, you will definitely notice a FUN difference throwing those gears! With my stock FMX, dropping in the 3.50 vs 2.75 livened things up a LOT. Have fun and be safe. Cool

Yeah you will really notice the difference. I have an C6 and went from a 3.25 to 3.89 and the difference is like night and day.

Got to the shop and my guy was just finishing the installation. I helped him with fill the box with lube, and we took it for a spin. What a difference! 1500 RPM take off is sooooo nice! Buttery smooth and absolutely no noise from the rear. Stoked!!

Many thanks to Don and EBStang for the insights on the cooling system. Just replaced the t-stat to the correct Cleveland style.
Visit to the tuning shop will have to wait 'til next week.
