Bought another 1971 Mustang M1
#1
Big Grin If you had kids or grew up in the 70's, you probably had one and didn't even know it. Although not rare, it is indeed a rare find when it's in NIB and never played with condition. Who the hell buys these 40+ year old toys and never play with them? Me that's who LOL!
here it is! A Tonka pressed steel pull back car built in 1970 for the 1971 toy line. Only about 4" long, how frigg'n cool is this HotRod?

I had that same toy when I was a kid!! Awesome! Roll it backward a few times and let it go - it took off.

And yes... it was pink. Mine didn't have the 'M-1' logo on the hood though.

Did you know at the time it was a 1971 Mustang? Smile I swear I had one of these, but didn't know what I had at the time and threw it in the ocean or smashed it with a play bomb coconut. It's wierd finding all these "odd ball" toys molded after our beloved 1971 Mustang.

Actually, yeah I did. I had a pretty good grasp at an early age of what the cars were that I liked. I think it even says '1971 Mustang' on the bottom or something. I also remember when I first got my full-size toy, I had thought about the little toy as well and wondered what ever happened to it. I think it was gifted to some friends little kids after I 'outgrew' such things.

I kept my Legos though. Wink

That's great! I too recognized our car at an early age. Bought my first at a store called Woolsworth. The bottom does not say "1971 Mustang" but instead says "Made in Japan" "Tonka" "Pat. Pend." I kinda wished I outgrew them, but the passion for this car runs deep. It started out with a 1:90 scale and now I've got four 1:1 scale Big Grin
