Banned member
#1
This all went down in the VIP forum so as to not air dirty laundry to the general public. If you want to see the details you have to go there to view. http://www.7173mustangs.com/thread-odd-dont-ya-think

The purpose of this post is to inform everyone that he was permanently banned yesterday for a myriad of cumulative infractions against the forum and his fellow 7123 members. Some members may question in their mind as to why we would ban someone who contributed a lot of good information about our cars but you'll have to glean that info from the thread.

Since he was a controversial personality, please do not respond to this thread in a negative way. We've had enough drama and more is not welcome at this time. Thank you for your support.

That's really a shame I did enjoy having Kit as a member but I fully support your decision, this forum has a purpose and I come here to converse about our cars and make friends with fellow owners of 1971-73 mustangs and nothing more. This forum helped me tolerate one of the worst winters in Massachusetts history and without it I would have gone nuts. I thank all of the people who make this happen. Frank

While I'm really sad to see Kit's knowledge leave us, I have to say I saw this coming since he joined. Within days of him joining, he locked horns with someone and then came back, started a new "I'm outta here" thread... dissing this place and its members.

Then, he came back, and acted all magnanimous. I saw this coming a LONG time ago.

I'll miss his knowledge, but not his ego.

I'm a moderator on a big gun related board, and really curse the day I agreed to do so. You can never keep everyone happy, especially people who have huge egos and short tempers.

Too bad it had to happen. I believe the staff here handled it with fairness and dignity.

Way back when rocketfoot started this forum and i got on board as a tech advisor(nobody else wanted the job, LOL) we had an administrator discussion about growing. At the time i think we had 20-50 members so it is pretty funny looking back now. I had some experiences running other large forums. the subject came around to banning members and what constituted a ban, and what did that mean. we didn't have many of the forum tools we have today back then so a ban was pretty much the only recourse a moderator had. Much of the staff never wanted to ban anybody, we still don't, but i knew as we grew the day would come when a ban would have to be made. It is just life you cannot make everyone happy. it is unfortunate but necessary in keeping the forum healthy. in this case you can believe there was a very lengthy multiple thread debate on this subject and that is a good thing. we want to debate and discuss all forum issues at length and get as much of all sides input as possible.

from a personal perspective many years ago I was banned from more then one forum and you know it made me a better person in time perhaps a positive will come out of this.

Don has a tough job. We are a passionate group about our cars and hobby. He is dealing with a forum with members from all over the globe and People express that passion in many different ways. There is a fine line that most of us toe closely. Some push it and cross that line far enough that there is no return. Don has the unpopular job of having to purge these members so we don't take on the appearance of some other forums that are like visiting an out of control bar on Saturday night.
I will really miss Kitts "Good" posts. As he is an original owner of a "J" code big block Mach 1, I found a lot of his posts to be a wealth of information. Considering these cars are from a time when most people traded every 2-3 years, being an original owner is almost like owning a time capsule.
Was what Don had to do a popular move with every one? No! I was a little concerned about new forum members having to witness all that was taking place. But I sure they know we are human and these "Things" happen.
Like Don said, It is a done deal and we need to move forward.
We all need to let Don know right or wrong we support and appreciate what he does to keep us "ON Track"

I admit that I will miss Kits knowledge and that I hate to see this happen but I spent hours reading up on all the old stuff on the staff forum and must say that he had it coming. Most of it had been going on behind the scenes so some you may think it is unfair but believe me it isn't!
None of us wants to ban members and it's the last resort but sometimes there is no other solution.
The staff of the site agrees and stands behind the decision and Don.
The decision was not made lightly.

Fully respect those that are required to make such decisions. I can't hold anyone to a perfect standard. Just do your best at whatever you do and that will have to be good enough.

Again - I appreciate all the work and discussion that has gone on in the background to keep this site rolling along.

I just hope this all blows over and we gat back to MUSTANGS. Ok and maybe Mustang Babes!!!

My account was showing I was banned this afternoon, was it related or just a fluke? Was back on when I got home.

Most likely a fluke but PM me if it happens again and I'll dig into to it.
