Auto C6 to Manual T56 tremec conversion
Hi all
I'm in the process of dealing with the tremec distributor and buy all new T-56 tranny with all that comes with it to make this project , Has anyone done this conversion before and would you have any tips or suggestions .
any info would be of great help

The guys at Modern Driveline in Idaho sell any unusual parts you might need. I have never done the swap, because i dont have the cash!

Low buck, touring style, '73 Convertible "rolling restoration", 351c, 2v heads with a shave and a haircut, Performer intake, Holley 650(ish), roller rockers, screw in studs, guideplates, stainless valves, Duraspark / Motorsports MSD, T-5 conversion. 1-1/8" front, 3/4" rear swaybars KYB shocks and some home brewed subframe connectors. Future plans; JGC steering box, Cobra brakes and... paint, interior, etc.

When I die I want to die like grandpa, peacefully in my sleep... not screaming, like his passenger.

I read through almost all the posts and replies on your conversion thread and I award you full points on the job , much respect for DIYing instead of buying ,I agree with your theory of fabricating it ,and for sure you must be proud of driving it knowing it started and finished from your own workshop .
I'm dreading the final cost of my conversion but I made up my mind I want everything new, I just hope at the end I can be as satisfied as you are with the project.

Well, I did a c4 to TKO-600 in my '68 coupe and I have put a t56 in my '95 Gt with a supercharged Windsor. I love and miss, the 6 speed. 5th gear was .80 and it still pulled. The concern with the 6 speed in the older cars is possible modifications to the trans tunnel. I'm not sure if the '71/'73 cars have this problem but the earlier cars do. My '95 was under cammed ti pas California emissions and still made over 550rwhp. I had the t56 with a Pro-5.0 shifter, fidanza aluminum fly wheel and the modern driveline dual kevlar clutch. It's not cheap but it's definitely a setup worth looking into.
It seems like the conversion project is about to become a reality.
After speaking with the folks at Modern Driveline ,they suggested I go for the TKO600 and I'm following their advice ,as soon as the order is finalized it's only a matter of some weeks and the work will commence.
Not so excited about the bill and I'm trying hard not to think about the scar on the bank account but I guess I knew what I was getting myself in to.
I wonder what my wife will say , I'll leave it until the box is on it's way to tell her, lucky for me the couch is comfortable enough to spend the couple of nights after I casually mention that the order is on its way.
I look forward to post some pictures of the conversion and the finished project
