#1
I crew for a friend and his son, we race primarily in the midwest. NHRA/IHRA stock, superstock and comp. All Fords, all MANUAL transmissions.
Jeff T.

Low buck, touring style, '73 Convertible "rolling restoration", 351c, 2v heads with a shave and a haircut, Performer intake, Holley 650(ish), roller rockers, screw in studs, guideplates, stainless valves, Duraspark / Motorsports MSD, T-5 conversion. 1-1/8" front, 3/4" rear swaybars KYB shocks and some home brewed subframe connectors. Future plans; JGC steering box, Cobra brakes and... paint, interior, etc.

When I die I want to die like grandpa, peacefully in my sleep... not screaming, like his passenger.

Where do you race in the midwest? Back in 73' and 74' I did some stock eliminator racing at Muncie and Indianapolis Raceway Park(now O'Reilly Raceway Park) With my Mach 1. I love the fact that you run all manual transmissions. That is the way it should be.

I went to the US Nationals last year for the first time in over 30 years. I am probably going this year. Post a picture of what you are running and we will watch for you and maybe look you guys up. I am only 30 minutes from ORP.

I am not going to make it this year. The guys will be there with the black 71 with the wheels up in the 71 gallery. The other car is a maroon 88 Thunderbird Turbo coupe running super stock GT/D. First time in about 5 years I'm going to miss Indy.

Bob Glidden is wheeling one of the Cunningham Mustangs there this year!
He went an out-of-shape 6.78 yesterday...hope they crack into the field!
We race mainly in Iowa with my Fairmont...the wifes 71 has been down the track a time or two but it's mostly for show and driving!

Now I rarely make a pass. I sold my last race car 14 years ago. It was a tube chassis 65 Mustang coupe. It went 9.21 @149 MPH. That was reasonably quick then, not so much by todays standards. Also raced a 1966 Mercury Cyclone 390, 1972 R code Mach 1, 1969 Mercury Cougar Boss 302. I build street cars now. Most recent engine build is a 408 CID Cleveland. 9.5:1 CR, solid flat tappet, iron closed chamber heads, 529 HP/496 TQ on the Land & Sea dyno. It is going into a restored 1972 Mach 1. Hopefully the car will be done in the springtime.

Coilwire here. I run a 71 Mach1 in street eliminator class at Byron drag strip in Illinois. Cars best times so far is 13.45 at 104. Plan on hitting some other strips next summer. If I get the 460 in it I may be jumping up a class.
