Almost had a real bad day!
#1
So I was over at Dad's and we were trying to get the Mach 1 running better and in the process we were doing several test drives. We finally found that a wire on the top of the Pertronix Dist. may have not been fully seated. I took it out on one last test run up the hill and she finally came to life! Must have fouled the plug a bit and then burnt the carbon off after we seated the wire properly. On the way back down to my Dad's house, some dumb ass lady decided to attempt to pull out from a side road before I get there...even though I was almost right on top of her! She stops dead as soon as she heard all four of my tires screaming in a panic stop! The car pulled to the left almost into a slide but I left off after I saw her stop and the Mach 1 veered back onto course like a champ! I left about 10 feet of rubber as I was only going 35-40 mph but man, he pucker factor was extreme! I didn't even have time to flip her off or blow the horn! She must have thought I was turning into the road she was pulling out of even though I was well above turning speed.

I did have my blinker on because the drive way was right after the side road. She should know not to trust turn signals and how to judge speed anyway! I'm just glad the guy behind me was alert and didn't rear end me! I could have very easily got it from both sides in a heartbeat!

Good news is no damage and the Mach 1 is back in running order! Bad news is I have 1 less pair of good underwear! LOL (no not really...just a little analogy there!)

Barry are you trying to say that only your dry cleaner knew for sure? Glad everything turned out alright.

Man it was close! I'm sure the lady in the car and the guy behind me knew what happened! I gotta say that the Mustang handled well for a 40 year old vehicle. If I had antilock brakes, I would have probably hit her!

there is nothing like the modern Jackass driver, i can't tell you how many times i've almost been killed in my car by somebody cutting me off, I mean its just as bad in my modern daily driver, but in the classic it is worse. Heavy traffic is the worst in these cars. The side mirrors are just terrible and nobody gives right of way anymore. Also everyone today Tailgates as the standard way of driving.

the ones that run stop signs are the most brilliant of the bunch.

The worst thing that happened to me was almost getting hit by a train( i was not in my mustang). Some 80 year old grandmother that should of never been re-issued a license stopped short and panicked because the rail way crosses lights began to flash, she stopped short just ahead of the train tracks and i was behind her, leaving me right on the tracks as the gate started to come down behind me.
Honking did nothing i could see this lady having some kind of panic attack inside the car and the car was inching forward slowly,

I actually saw the train coming at this point, Punched it ran over the sidewalk and got around this lady with time to spare, but i was was panicked at this point. I managed to give her the finger and just took off. there was HEAVY traffic on that road as well.

the truck that stopped short behind me actually got hit by the cross bar as it came down behind my car.

in short the roads are more dangerous then in the 1970s

Wheeeuuu!
Glad everything is ok.
Alot of folks trust those turn signals. You may want to start signaling AFTER you're into the
intersection to avoid confusion in the future.

I almost got rear ended with the vert going into my driveway.....just another case of people trusting signals and then disregarding them....I had turned right from the main street onto my street so I had the right indicator on ....my house is the first one on the right so I still had it on as I was slowing to turn into my driveway. Now my street is only 4 houses long as its the entrance to the sub division, but everyone feels they need to get to the stop sign at warp speed. Can't tell you how many times people have almost rear ended me and then flip me off because I'm the one turning and with my signal on!

Sheeesh!
I´m glad it turned out well in the end.
I know how that feels. Seems like people around me take greater risks when I´m driving the Mustang, like they think I will be more careful because my car is a classic.

"I´ll ignore the "STOP" sign. He´s not gonna hit me with THAT after all!"

I don´t know how many "need fresh underpants moments" I´ve had over the last few years.
Remember: Always keep a clean pair of underpants in the glove box.
