.jpg   mach1sagamiMA320140001.JPG (Size: 112.4 KB / Downloads: 121) Here's what my long time internet friend found. He have loved 71-73 Mustangs since he was a young boy. He dreams of one day owning one.
Here's what he said in his pretty good English.

I found rusty Mach 1 when I drove down to the customer last week.
The condition seems not fine but looks still running.
I don't know someone drive this car or abandon
If I have even some money ---only 1mil yen---maybe,I can afford this cute car. But still, I am no-money man ---ha, ha, ha.
It is ok. I have nice family, house, work and cat !.

Japanese economy --especially industry-- is bottom now, so that it is very hard to operate company. We are even hard to pay for employees. I was --maybe--- born in such a fate --- always need to work hard for less money ---its OK.

To show, American old car situation, I list up HTTP for some car shops.
Fair condition Mach 1 is sold here around JPYen 2.8mil.

Reminds when i was at our local gas station with my big red mach 1 couple years ago....And this japanese man jumped out of this van and come over with the classic camera around his neck...And he bows and says in broken english....Can you please take a picture of me with your car? I said sure thing...Snapped his picture...And he gently touched the fender of my car...Like it was so special...Like it was me touching it...And he says..This car in Japan very expencive!!

And i seen a car show on tv from japan...They had 4 door dodge darts and big old american cars you could pick up for nothing ...One guy said he paid for 40,000 in us cash for a 4 door duster with crappy paint to be shipped over{shakes head}.

Yeah... no kidding. Although, they ARE very rare cars over there, considering the import/export ratio has always seemed almost one-sided (we buy their stuff... them, not so much ours) with just about every other country in the world.

Japan is similar to Thailand 30% tax on imports if it is deemed low value or interest....yep I said "interest" meaning if people WANT it they have to pay more. I could have bought a 1970 250 Benz for 13k.....they were going to send it to Tailand but taxes was 25k on top of the price due to it being a highly sought after car.
