Your car is dope!! What kind of problems did you have swapping out for a more modern engine?

Nice coupe

Jeff T.

Low buck, touring style, '73 Convertible "rolling restoration", 351c, 2v heads with a shave and a haircut, Performer intake, Holley 650(ish), roller rockers, screw in studs, guideplates, stainless valves, Duraspark / Motorsports MSD, T-5 conversion. 1-1/8" front, 3/4" rear swaybars KYB shocks and some home brewed subframe connectors. Future plans; JGC steering box, Cobra brakes and... paint, interior, etc.

When I die I want to die like grandpa, peacefully in my sleep... not screaming, like his passenger.

Thanks! It's a long and slow process but a labor of love.

The swap is pretty straight forward since I decided on using a carb and all the stock belts, power steering and water pump. The starter motor is different from the auto to stick but engine to engine is the same.
They do have kits to run the 5.0 FI instead of Carb but I didn't have the money patience after the stick swap. (The motor and four speed were done at the same time)

The odd things about this motor are the HO cam follows a Windsor firing order and it needs a brass cam gear for the distributor. This is only the HO 5.0 motors that did this. Don't quote me but I think only the roller cams had that firing order but I'm not sure.
I would like in the future to do a serpentine belt but it's pretty low on the list.
