72 Dark Blue Mach

Missed the part to add comments when I posted, sorry... here's an update. I've been trying to keep her drivable for quiet some time, it's been difficult in her present condition, a few time around the block is all that I have been able to manage, unfortuanlly the trans (FMX) has not been up to the few small short trips and is now dropping out of high gear, I've tried a flush and some seafoam, nothing has really help, really hate that I won't be able to at least drive small trips, this is a set back. In addition to the Trans issue the 2bbl carb keeps plugging up,even after an extensive flushing of the gas tank the microscopic rust manages to find its way past two filters and back in the fuel bowl, so it's running rough too. On the plus I was able to get my donor car started with a little help from a home made distibutor drill operated oil pump and a great deal of priming of the fuel system. I think this will be my fall back motor and trans option if I can get the FMX spinning better than my "driver"... I finally figure out how to post some pics, so visits 72Machi if your curious. The car doesn't look much different than when I drove it in the 80's (minus paint), and yes those are early 80's 50 series cragars on the back and yes the engine is chevy orange, what can I say I was eighteen!

Nice project. I love the old school Mickey Thompson valvecovers.

Jeff T.

Low buck, touring style, '73 Convertible "rolling restoration", 351c, 2v heads with a shave and a haircut, Performer intake, Holley 650(ish), roller rockers, screw in studs, guideplates, stainless valves, Duraspark / Motorsports MSD, T-5 conversion. 1-1/8" front, 3/4" rear swaybars KYB shocks and some home brewed subframe connectors. Future plans; JGC steering box, Cobra brakes and... paint, interior, etc.

When I die I want to die like grandpa, peacefully in my sleep... not screaming, like his passenger.

nice stang project

ya gas tank rust can be a nightmare....when rush is that bad in a tank it won't stopSad but you can pull the tank off and sand blast it inside...or just get another tank if you dont got a good blaster or a freind with one..cause sooner or later it will make a pin hole and leak... tanks are so thin anyways.
