I love the ads where it says "Most of the body work has been completed" Not on that car..Also where they quote N.a.d.a prices..Sure that car is rare & sure it could be worth 49k after putting 70k into it..They make it sound so easy...On the plus side it is a rare car that warrants further inspection..Could be a deal for someone who can do all the work themselves.

That is exactly what I was thinking - someone like SCOTT! Big Grin

Honestly, guys with your talents might be the only ones that could truly save this car. It deserves an accurate resto, being a 72 Q vert IMHO. Big Grin

I kinda depends on the negotiated amount and condition of the parts the owner says goes with the car. First thing I'd do is sell off the power window units or save to use on another car.

Good luck and I sure hope someone on here is able to save this one.

Equally irritating are the folks - such as this seller - who use the Chevrolet "Endura" marketing nomenclature to refer to the Ford urethane bumper.

These same fellows usually figure any damaged urethane/Enudra bumper is worth $1k on a bad day too. Laughable.

How to buy a '71-73 Mustang:
Rule #1: Assume all classic car sellers are guilty until proven innocent.
Rule #2: No classic car dealer is ever innocent; thus, they are all guilty.
Rule #3: Buy from trustworthy people: Fellow forum members. Visit 7173Mustang's For Sale forum.

Kurt gotta give props to Pontiac and DeLorean - not Chevy

You're watching television in 1968, a car-crazy kid, when John DeLorean, dressed in a suit, appears on the screen. He holds a sledgehammer and stands next to a brand-new red 1968 GTO, so you decide to sit through this commercial. But why's he got that sledgehammer? Then, almost without warning, he raises it, and WHAM!, hits the front bumper of the GTO. Your eyes go wide at the close-up of the hammer hitting the painted nose of the car, and you expect all sorts of damage to ensue.
But ... nothing. The bumper pops back into its normal shape with hardly a mark on it. A rubber bumper? Of course!
Another commercial at the time features a line of white-lab-coat-bedecked men barking and yammering at each other and whacking the upright in a new GTO's nose with a crowbar. No effect at all. The voice-over says something to the effect that, "Perhaps the reason Motor Trend picked the GTO as car of the year is the new bumper of the year."
That bumper, actually specially formed closed-cell urethane foam that was bonded to a steel frame, came exclusively on the GTO that year and bore the name Endura.
