71 Spring Special

Decent (not perfect) 1971 Spring Special on CL.

Car looks relatively unmolested.

Personally don't care for the bumper horns on the endura bumper.

I see this line in a lot of these ads:"Has not been started in a few years, but when it did it ran fine. " What exactly does this mean? If it ran fine a few years ago, why do I need a list of stuff to make it run. Better yet, I could say my lawn tractor ran good a few years ago. Never mind that it does not run now!

So when these people put this line in the ad is it to solicit a warm and fuzzy feeling that I can trust the seller? I can buy with confidence knowing that the motor ran good a few years ago! Actually, would not every car be listed as ran good a few years ago? Afterall, it must of ran good when it left the factory!

It is a very common thing people say when a car doesn't run NOW. It does help provide a little info but unfortunately a seller would be foolish to consider a motor good without being able to start.
I can put the illusion in the buyers mind that it might not take much to get it running. Of course it can't be guaranteed. Buyers can get caught up in the dream of what the car CAN BE if not careful. Much like a new girlfriend back when you didn't know better!! (remember??? LOL).

I do like this car and feel it has a lot of potential. But as always - buyer beware and do your homework before you part with your cash.

the bumper guards look out of place!!

the line "Has not been started in a few years, but when it did it ran fine. "
To me it means, it did run back in the 70's - 80's, but now its dead!! don't ask if it runs, and the seller will not start it for you to hear it run Big Grin

I second that on the chrome guards on urethane bumper.

I don't know its a 70's thing to me. Every car my dad owned for god knows how many years had them damn things and the bumper jack that seemed like it could kill you at any instant.

If you follow Richard Rawlins mantra every car wants to run............Rolleyes
