Good Job. Please register the car in the "Registry" section.
There are only three other '71 Grandes listed mine being one.

Welcome to the site. It looks like you have a nice project.

Jeff T.

Low buck, touring style, '73 Convertible "rolling restoration", 351c, 2v heads with a shave and a haircut, Performer intake, Holley 650(ish), roller rockers, screw in studs, guideplates, stainless valves, Duraspark / Motorsports MSD, T-5 conversion. 1-1/8" front, 3/4" rear swaybars KYB shocks and some home brewed subframe connectors. Future plans; JGC steering box, Cobra brakes and... paint, interior, etc.

When I die I want to die like grandpa, peacefully in my sleep... not screaming, like his passenger.

Nice car. I love it when folks give details on their motors. Sounds like it can really rip. Have you taken it to the track? What about suspension mods? How does it hook up?

Thanks for posting the pics. Sounds like you put a lot of $'s and work into the engine. Are you happy with the way it turned out or would you do anything different?

Yeah, that engine sounds bad to the bone!

I will this weekend. I have been doing a mini under hood resto and keep putting it off. I would like to get a Marti report too.

I raced it for a few years from 93-96 ish. It rips and can keep up with BBC . The old cam was way too big and it just never lived up to its full potential. It ran 14.24 @ 101mph @ 5000ft in SLC. I needs a 4500 stall converter to make the old cam work right.
It was sick. It was an Erson solid lifter , 588 intake and exh,296/306 on a 108 lobe ! It ran hard but had crappy launches. It had 2.3-2.5 60ft times and still ran 14's. I got the ram air going and went from 14.80's to 14.24 no Bull !
Now that I have a Crower Hyd and split lift/der cam + Barry Grant Vac secondary carb I am dyeing to run it now. It’s got to be in the 13's zone now. I runs sooo much better than with the 750 or 800 dp.
I am super focused to get it registered this spring and DRIVE IT. Way to long sitting in the garage.

Man I sure would. I have been building it since 1986. (2) engines so far.
NO FUEL CELL. It just was way to much. Cut the hump out of the trunk floor,1/2 fuel line a total waste of time.
NO ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP ! Too much noise , they break eventually and use a lot of power too. And that requires electrical system updates.
Seriously consider how often you run your motor to 7000 rpm before you buy the Bob Glidden spec cam...
NO STUPID BIG CAMS!
NO SOLID CAMS ! If you like being bent over your big 71-73 fenders adj valves it may be ok . But run stud girdles for sure if you do.
NO 3" EXH! It's just way to loud.
NO SIDE EXIT EXH! Leave that for Ricky Rudd and Dale JR.
I have not cut the car up too much but, try to do stuff in a way that if it stinks you can unbolt it.
What you like @ 16-20 is not cool @ 40.

suspension mods= Big block 429 w/ac front springs,
Rear 5 leaf springs and factory mach 1 rear sway bar I restored and fabed up the rest.
I can't remember where I got the springs but it's a resto mod outfit in CA that races a 65 and I do love the 5 leaf's.
Some cheapy squishy shocks in the rear for better transfer and less $$$ than drag shocks.
