Back in the mid 80"s when I was in high school ,a friend had one that was a 302 he swapped in a 351C beat the crap out of it, then offered it to me for $500 . Sad Years later ,I still want to kick my own a$$ for passing that up ! Angry

My wife found a 390 GT in San Berardino a couple of years ago.For a week she was all about getting it. So I hooked up the trailer to the Super Duty and off we went. When we got there I was all set to bring it home. Well after we test drove it the wife flipped on me and decided another project was not a good idea.Dodgy

I think they are one of the best looking Fords ever produced.

Here is our car. Bought it 25 years ago or so for 250 bucks as a parts car for a Fairlane we were building. Found out it was the better car to save and the rest is history.

I have attached the Marti for it. I think it was used as an official promotion car for ford. Candy Red / Red Interior / Buckets with Head Rest / Chrome Gt Wheels built in mid Aug 67 and in late Aug 67 Ford published this:

This add came out in Dec 1967:

and this promotion was in Dec 1967 as well. Ford did not produce any 427 Torinos as per Marti.

You can see the rear wheel is still a Chrome GT.

Several magazines test drove an identically equipped Torino in late Aug, Nov, and Dec of 1967.

The Marti says it was sold in Nov 67 but I bought it from the original owner who bought it from the Florida dealer listed on the report in spring of 1970 and we have his original paperwork showing that he was the first owner. Who knows where it was until summer of 1970.

My theory is that it was actually a 427 car vin'd as a 390 when it was decided not sell any to the public and the engine got pulled. It has a service replacement 390 4V in now. The original owner never had the engine replaced. I will never be able to prove this as there is no "sticker under a sticker" like the 71 Boss 302 that turned up.

I wish there was a way to get more information on this.

We have the white c stripes in a box - I like it better without them.

We have the red dash pad in a box but the interior is now black - My wife could not stomach so much red.

Our current issue is that our son wants to drive from time to time - he is 16.

Paul

Heck even as a 390 car ...still something to brag about!!! I bought a 69 GT "formal roof" windsor car... I sold it to help fund the Mach I project. I would own another one... like that style a lot.
