#1
Hi all, I just got a set of BB mounts for my mach I have found a 460 in a local junk yard 73 lincoln complete, but $325.00 just seems a little high to me for a motor with unknown history. It does turn by hand, clean anti and oil.
I just want a BB mustang nothing racy go fast.Building the car to drive every day that I am breathing.Or should I just save my pennies and by a reman long block.I just do not want the cleveland that is in it.
Cheers Chris

I dont think that is a bad price at all. I just sold a 460 and c6 tranny out of a 1 ton van for $450.

Chris, I would say it depends on the local situation as it relates to what is available and what all is included with the motor.

Keep in mind that in the current market, it is almost always cheaper to buy a complete (ready to run) motor as machining parts and other costs can easily become quite expensive when building a new motor.

Hi,again I have had a cleveland powered car before died do to oiling problems.70 mustang hard top crusing on the interstate through the steering belt and started to knock, got home pulled motor apart, rear main bearing/7,8 rod bearings wiped out 7 scored pistion and junk bore was .030 over.I have read quite a bit on them and there oiling problems I do not want to deal with a motor only used 4 years I would rather have the motor ford used for 30 years in every thing that had wheels.

Welcome to the site, Chris. Many people here run Clevelands and are very happy with them. Sorry to hear that you had trouble with your '70. It's true that some early '70's racers experienced difficulties with keeping enough oil to the valve train when running upwards of 9000 RPM, but my research does not reflect oil delivery problems as a common issue with clevelands driven as daily drivers or even street/strip modifieds.

When you get a chance, post a short intro in the Introductions thread so we can give you a proper welcome. Glad to have you here!
