429 indentification help
#1
All I have right now are these two pics. Can anyone tell me what era and type of vehicle this might have been in? Has a C6 attached.

'68 to '71 Thunderbird, as a wild-a$$ guess

Hard to say. The tranny looks like it might be the short tail variety that'll fit a Mustang. I think I can see the flat pad for the tranny mount. The T-bird long tail had a 45* mount and a really long tail.

Engine does look right to be a Thunderjet. I had a '72 T-brd and the gear on the engine looks earlier vintage than mine, so I'd agree with Don on 68-71.

Get some more pics and casting #'s & dates so we can see what you've really got there.

Ribbed tranny case is a good indicator of early origin.

Don't trust any "description". Casting numbers and date codes tell all.

The air cleaner assembly age doesn't appear to match the engine age. The presence of smog equipment, a Ford rebuilt Holley 4180 carb with what appears to be a governor says heavy truck engine to me. It could even be a 370. Chuck
