Does anyone have a 71-73 witha windsor from the factory? I know it was common in 1970 but, wondering how common in 71-73. Chuck

According to ALL of my references, the 351W was not used in ANY Mustangs (from the Factory) during the 1971 - 1973 production period. It was supposedly dropped from the Mustang after 1970 and replaced by the 351C 2V engine.

During that period (1971 - 1973), the 351W was an option in the 1972 - 1974 Torino, some 1971 - 1974 Ford Passenger cars, the 1974 Cougar, the 1971 Mercury and the 1974 Montego.

BT, The info you posted agrees with what I always thought to be the case. However, I've run into a couple of people that say a W is original to their cars. I wrote it off as The W being in the car when they got it. The FAQ from Marti Auto Works got be wondering. Chuck

Yes Chuck, I think the "missing piece" here may be that the "Marti Reports" and information they provide is not limited to Mustangs. Marti maintains the data for all Ford models for the period.

I read the response to the question in the link as being more "general" in nature which would make it correct and not at odds with the fact that 351W were not installed (from the Factory) in 1971 - 1973 Mustangs.

At least that is my "take." Smile

I have never seen one. I have never heard of one. You would think if one existed someone on this board would have come across it by now.

I sold a set of seats to a guy with a 72 sportsroof with a 351W. I told him it was a 302 or a 351C. He swore it was a 351W.

I went over and looked and it was a 351W. Looked factory installed but he was not the original owner and knew nothing about Mustangs.

I did not think to look at the VIN and that was many years ago.

Hmmmm........
