2,5" exhaust and headers recommendation
#1
Hi guys,

I have a 73er Q-code with 1970 closed chamber 4V heads and will change the stock exhaust system in a 2,5" system - on occasion of this I will change the stock headers too.

Any recommendations, where I could buy a reasonable 2,5" system? It could be noname, because I have already 2 Flowmaster mufflers and I have no fear to adapt a 69s system to a 73s Big Grin

Any recommendations to some headers which will fit in that narrow space between heads and engine bay Wink ?

Thanks,

Tim

Pypes has a nice 2.5 inch stainless steel dual exhaust, as long as you don't have staggered shocks.
For the headers, I would do a search for other threads, there has been some recent discussions on how well they fit, how low they hang, and so on.

I don't know if it cost more but I went custom 2.5" on my '68. That way the guy doing my exhaust could adjust what he needs to.

G to hooker for headers and hook those up to flowmasters. => BEST EXHAUST NOTE IN THE WORLD.

If you go hookers, go with the 'competition' and not the 'super competition'. The super comps hang down lower and tend to get beat up more. I have had both and have never smacked the 'competition' ones.

FYI, it appears I would not be able to remove the transmissions with the competition headers in place.

Also, if you go headers, consider 'stage 8' locking bolts. Here is a write up I did:

I will be under mine today and will snap a couple of pics to show how tight they are with the c6.

I suppose it's personal opinion, but I don't care for the drone of the Flowmasters. I prefer Magnaflows.

I had the super comps and also had the clearance issues. When I took them off you could see all the spots where the headers contacted the road. I went with the Hooker Competition headers and the Pypes exhaust but haven't installed the exhaust yet.
