1973 convertible - $6k with a dodgy seller

Sounds interesting enough (and given the ridiculous price of convertibles, some might find it a very attractive price), but that description is full of old car sales sins:

Quote:1973 ford mustang mach 1 convertible.

Sin #1 right out of the gate...

Quote:Needs heads reabuilt and carb. Outside Is ruff but car works great onces heads are fixed, top needs to be replaced but does fo up and down.

What's wrong with the heads that they alone are preventing the car from running? And if so, how do you know the car will work great once the heads are fixed? Is this just a convenient way to hide the fact that it needs a bottom end job, or that you wiped the cam?

And what's so rough about the outside of the car? I mean, that's the part we're most interested in at the end of the day. And that sure isn't daytime in your picture...of a green Mustang fender attached to a black blob.

Quote:A/c and radio still work!

Whoopee.

Quote:Also needs 4 tire valves but tires are good.

Translation: "The valves are bad because the tires have been flat for 6 months, resulting in dryrot on the bottom of the tire from Florida weather. Since I won't fill the tires up until you've bought the car, I'll tell you they're perfect and hope that you're a stupid enough to overlook them, or rich enough to ignore them."

Quote:I dont need to sell this car so please dont waste my time or yours.
No resonable offer turned down.

Translation: "I want your money, but go away unless you want to send me the full asking price via PayPal right now. You don't really need to inspect the car, my description and nighttime were thorough enough."

The seller just sent me pictures by request. I wasn't far off about the tires at all, that's for sure.

Strangest thing is that the quarters and doors don't look bad in these pictures. Must be the lighting Tongue

Might be project-car worthy though - not at $6k though.

Funny how these cars are "so valuable" that everybody seems content with letting them rot. rofl
