I bought the car in 1994. It was white, had a 6 in line engine and had been delivered for Europe in 1972. There was only one owner before. It looked good and I had fun driving it. Then in 2004 we decided to change to a V8! A friend had given us a block that came from a 1971 mach1. First step, get the old one out, and then the problems started. The chassis was close to breakdown. So Theo started to take everything appart, getting out the interior, the windows, the windshield...getting the paint off. Every evening when I came home from work there were more bad news. There was a lot of rust and filler. The day Theo put it on a truck to bring it for sandblasting, the neighbor's wife came and said "wait Theo, are you going to the scrap merchant? I have some things too!" After sandblasting the rear looked like swiss cheese. Instead of using the corners we had already ordered, we had to change the whole rear fenders. A friend making body work helped. The front fenders were changed too. The doors... hm. A friend had given us two doors from a 1972 fastback as he could not use them. When checking them Theo found that those where the original doors from my car! Unfortunaltely we could not use them. The hood was already the right one and is now RAM-AIR equipped.
The engine:
block crankshaft and heads: Cobra Jet 1971
competition cam
SRP flat top pistons
Edelbrock torker intake manifold
carburator: Holley 670 CFM
long headers.
With this ingredients Theo managed to get 328 HP (mesured).
For the colour I first wanted a bright blue with grey, but in front of the official Ford dealer of Luxembourg I saw a Focus ST in electric orange and fell in love with it. It was a crazy idea but I do not regret it as I do not regret the total restoration. It was not cheap, but now there is only the normal maintenance to do.

You need to drive that thing more often! And kick some serious butt while you're doing it. Wink

That was in August 2012, I got two prices (spectators choice), one for the most beautifull paint job and one for most beautifull 1971-1973

What would life be without Mustangs shrug
