I believe there was a decor package that added the urethane bumper and Mach grill to non Mach cars also

"I love my Hookers!" and "Get some Strange" probably have a different connotation to non automotive enthusiasts!

Jeff, I think that was later on though, right? To bump up flagging sales?

Yes. (Edit: Should not have said "YES". I should have replied, "The 1971 sportsroof came with a chrome front bumper."
I have been working from my iPhone reading this stuff. Then not re-reading - just assuming what I THOUGHT it said!!! Damn I am getting old - gotta blame it on something!! LOL)

I am unsure when they started the Decor Package or even if that is the proper name. I'm not quite old enough to remember 1st hand and I don't care enough to learn now.

Yes - from what I have learned, the Decor package was setup to help make the cars a little more 'sporty'. The painted lower body definitely gave the car a more aggressive dropped/lowered look.
-Available all years

You might be thinking of the 1971 "Spring Specials" discussed previously in many threads on this site. Approx 9003 were built to help move base model hardtops. They were produced late in the model year; March-May 1971. The were offficially announced by Ford in April 1971. Neat looking cars, no doubt. Unfortunately I have seen many decent ones used as parts cars to help restore Mach's etc.

BTW - I received this info of various locations on the 'net so tough to confirm...

I might be wrong, but I think the Mach 1- style eurathane bumper and body-colored fender and hood trim, along with the sportlamp grill was available as the "decor pkg" on base hardtops and convertibles but never on a base sportsroof. This would preclude somebody faking a Mach 1 with judiscious use of the order sheet.
The singular exception I know of is the '72 Sprint, available as a coupe or fastback, and as 50 limited-run parade-special Sprint convertibles.

The 71-73 Mach 1 never came with a chrome front bumper or chrome fender/ hood extensions.
