1971 Mustang Convertible Triple Black on CL.
#1
Looks like a nice car. How many triple black were made?? Wasn't black special order paint color in 71?

Black was a standard color (Paint code "A"), just not as common as a lot of other colors.

Looks like a 71 but with the Mustang script on the deck lid...72?

It has a 1971 dash. No seat belt light over the glove box.

Sure would like to see a Marti Report or at least the door label. This vert has the base interior which was the standard interior for the vert in 1971. The Deluxe interior became  the standard Vert interior starting in 72 and continuing for the 73's.
The Right side seat belt light didn't enter production until 12/1/71, so early 72's did not have the Government mandated lamp which was a Jan 72 requirement.
Mustang in block letters (with pins) is what came on the 71 deck lid. Deck lid may have been changed for what ever reason. "Back in the Day" a few people I knew removed the block letters, filled in the holes and installed the 72/ cursive Mustang emblem which they liked the looks of better.
Black sure looks good on these 71-73's.  Too bad black was a RPO (regular production option) for 71 only. Could be special ordered for 72-73, but resulted in a slight delay and an additional charge for the color. Guess when compared to red and the grabber colors black was just not ordered that often.
If it is indeed a rust free car, this could be a nice addition to someone's fleet!
