1971 M-code 4 speed Convertible Desirability

I have the idea that a 1971 M-code with a factory 4 speed transmission should be a very desirable Mustang,not just due to the factory options but also for the limited number made by Ford. I have recently seen 2 of those Mustangs on E bay ( both project cars) and one did not make reserve at $2500.00 and the other one on auction now with 3 days to go and a buy it now price of $6349.99 its now bid up to $2650.00
Anyone besides me surprised?
