I found this poor car out in Gig Harbor back in January, 2011. It had a strong running engine, strong C6 automatic transmission, and a mostly decent outside shell.

Now for the bad. There’s a bit of frame damage in the engine support crossmember and front suspension crossmember. It probably needs to be pulled out and straightened. Other than that, the frame rails are rust free and strong. There’s your typical rust damage. Floors, cowl, battery tray, trunk floor, and some on the quarter panels. Also a bit of surface rust in the inner panels, hood, and trunk.

The original white 71 Mach 1 interior was ripped out in favor of a black 73 Mach 1 interior and the driver’s side door was replaced with a 73 Mach 1 door. The original Metallic Blue color was painted over with rattle can red-orange and there’s a few Bondo spots here and there.

While I was able to confirm that both the 351C 4V engine and the C6 are original, all of the seats and the driver’s side door are not. Also, the carb is re-manufactured so it is safe to say it is not original as well.

Now, as much as I want to do a total as close to concourse restoration as possible, I must admit I’m not like that. I decided to do a resto-mod. I will admit, I’m planning on keeping this car for the rest of my life. That and I’ll do my best to keep within the more original idea of the car itself (blue exterior, white interior, with the original engine at least). Other than that, I want to improve the car itself with more modern parts and will make for a very enjoyable ride over the weekend (no garage queen here, thank god). Maybe even participate in an autocross or the quarter mile.

Reason why I choose the name Angry Horse is that this car has been through enough neglect and abuse. So I'm restoring it to its former glory and then some. It deserves to be angry and it deserves to be the hell raiser it was meant to be. Angry

Other than that, learning how to weld and do some bodywork on cars has been pretty educational for me and my girlfriend. Looking forward to finally getting it running and enjoying it as a weekend cruiser and possible race car. Smile
