17" aftermarket wheels
#1
well I have decided not to go with the magnum 500 like I was planning and have decided to go with Coy c-67 wheels on my 73 convertible. What I would like to know from everyone if anyone can back up what I was told will fit with stock suspension. I was told 17x8 with 4.75 backspacing would be the best size wheel.....but not sure about the tire. will the 245/45/17 fit all the way around? or do I have to go with a 225/45/17? any help would be great.

The 245 tires will fit with no issues. Be careful with 17 inch rims up front. They are very likely to get in the way of the upper ball joints as they are exactly at the spot where the rims lip will be.
Check my thread labeled "my experience with bigger wheels" in the "aesthetics" forum. There I have the measurements with my 18 inch rims and have posted that a particular 17 inch rim backspace would not fit.
I don't remember the numbers by heart.
I can't post the link right now as I'm on tapatalk replying on my cell phone.

ok....now im nervous about the 17" rims after reading luxstang's post....I have a hard time following it exactly. Is anyone running 17x8 with 4.75 backspacing on the front to let me know if it works for them?

idk much about 17's but the stock '05+ 17's I have on mine needed to be spaced out 1 1/2 inch but I will be going with 15's soon and those need to be at 4 inches of back spacing in front and not any deeper but the rear I'm getting in 5 1/2 inches deep at the recommendation of xoilix

for the look I am going for these are what I'm getting
Front: 15x8 rim 4 inch bs 26x 9.5 tire
Rear: 15x10 rim 5.5 inch bs 26x11.5 tire

OK, I looked up my own thread and my rims have a 4,72 inch backspace. That would not fit in 17 inch. But Roy runs the 4,5 backspace and that fits.
