1/5/72 2nd rebirth
#1
Well my car turned 42 today. My Marti Indicated a 01/05/72 build date. No better way to celebrate than to have a running engine in the car for the first time in 13 years. With the help of great friend who also rebuilt the engine for me we got her fired today. I cannot tell you how excited I was to hear that open exhaust out of the Y-pipe. Things went well overall. One hiccup of the kickdown linkage catching up in the manifold and sticking the throttle wide open for a couple of seconds. You want to talk about a frantic dash to pull the coil through all of those test leads. It was quick and don't think we did any harm other than a couple days off of my life expectancy clock. Here are a couple of stills of the engine running. I have a bad cell phone video I will post on my build thread. Happy Birthday mustang, 42 years old and hopefully the best years to come.

Great job as always, Brian.
Yes the stuck WOT would cause me to skip a few beats too.
Glad you caught it quickly.

Congrats and happy 42! Smile
I can imagine that the open exhaust probably added to the shock of the WOT. Smile
The real estate value of your neighborhood probably dropped a few percent after that. Smile

Congrats Brian.

Cant imagine how you must feel after this long. The car is a real beauty. Do you think I could borrow your friend for a weekend?

I am sure he is open to offers. He is an Engineer for Mahle/Clevite and a die hard mustang guy. On top of all of that he is a great person. He traveled out to North Dakota a couple of years ago to help someone get their 68 GT500 up and running.

Thank you for everyone's good wishes. This has been a long time coming, but along the way I have met so many great people and learned so much from everyone. OK, enough of the sentiments, time to get back to wrenching to meet the April Charlotte deadline.
