Anyone find correct Wood decal for doors?
#1
Seen a bunch of diffrernt replacement simulated wood Vinyl for the door panels but none came close to the color or pattern.

Anyone find a close match or where to get the replacement vinyl?

I was thinking of going with some kind of Mustang decal. Like running horses or ??? My sister in law has a decal business so she can custom make anything. I have white panels and I thought of just putting in a black or white insert but I don't think either would look 'right'.

Got mine from www.rvinyl.com under "woodgrain".
Unfortunately, they don't currently stock the part I used "Walnut".
It is always that way when restoring a classic Mustang.
Parts are here today and gone tomorrow.
This is the closest match I have found.
How much do you need?

Just a couple of weeks ago I did one of my panels. I had ordered a couple of different woodgrains, but neither was a perfect match. I went with the lighter one. I'll try and post some pics soon. Gotta do the other side now.

This is the route i took since i couldnt find a good source. SEM trim black was what i used. Thinking of having an orange mach1 decal made to match exterior paint. Not sure yet though. Easied way i found to remove the decal was a pvc primer that my brother used for hvac jobs. I put it on and the decal rinsed right off with water along with the primer

I never liked the faux woodgrain stuff on the inserts, so changing that was first on my list when I redid my interior with new panels two weeks ago.
So I tried and messed around with different ideas, such as a painted yellow panel to match the exterior paint, a black insert, a stainless steel insert..... and ended up using the original woodgrain insert again because it looked best.
And now I really like it. It´s got that cheesy 70ies vibe that nothing else can reproduce. Cool
I don´t have a good source for a replacement that matches the old grain, but I thought I would share my thoughts on replacing it with something else. (For what it´s worth...)

You know, that what I had odered last year when I re-did my my center stack but I think that it's a little too dark. (see pic). Any way I didn't like the way the metallic tape came out so I ordered a new console.
I just need enough to do the door panels.

Got my consoles from Don of OMS and the vinyl is a pretty good
match. Can't say it is a perfect match but looks pretty close.
PM me a shipping address and I will cut you a hank, enough for
the doors anyway.
