Weekly Fun Question for 3-31-2012
Good Day All,

Specifics on the Weekly Fun Question (WFQ) can be found under the "Important Threads" section of the Weekly Fun Question Forum.

VIP Members, please note that this question is also being posted on the VIP WFQ Forum so please do not respond to this threadSmile.

The Question:

Which of the following application(s) did not come from the "Factory" with four-bolt main caps?

a. 1971 M-Coded Convertible with a C6 Transmission

b. 1972 H-Coded Fastback with an FMX Transmission

c. 1972 Q-Coded Mach 1 with a Wide Ratio Toploader Transmission

d. 1973 H-Coded Hardtop with a C6 Transmission

Good Luck!

BT
The desired response is "a, b and d." Contrary to what some may have believed, the 1971 M-Coded Mustangs were not touted as having come from the "factory" with 4-bolt mains. That motor's "claim to fame" (other than it being a 351C) primarily has to do with the fact that it came with the quench chambered heads. By the same token, none of the H-Coded Mustangs were advertised as having four bolt mains, from the Factory.

Good Day All!

To repeat the question:

Which of the following application(s) did not come from the "Factory" with four-bolt main caps?

a. 1971 M-Coded Convertible with a C6 Transmission

b. 1972 H-Coded Fastback with an FMX Transmission

c. 1972 Q-Coded Mach 1 with a Wide Ratio Toploader Transmission

d. 1973 H-Coded Hardtop with a C6 Transmission

We only had one response to the question. While that response by Hyena429 was not totally correct, I have decided to accept his response as being correct due to his perseverance. This decision qualifies Hyena429 for elevation to VIP status and it shall be done.

Congratulations, Hyena 429!

NOTE: It is also worth saying that there have been reported incidents of some H-Coded and possibly M-Coded motors having been observed upon "tear-down" as having four-bolted mains but it was apparently not an "advertised" option. It is generally accepted that sometimes Ford used whatever 351C block was in the "pipeline" in spite of what was called for in a particular application.

Congratulations, Hyena! beer

And welcome to the VIP club. It's tradition for new members to buy the first round in the lounge (also, the toilet cleaning supplies are kept in the closet on the left) Tongue Stop by and say hello when you get there.
