Windshield wiper motor shaft clip

Ok I give up, (not really), but what is the secret in getting that clip back on the wiper motor shaft? It is a one hand, upside down operation. Is there a better easier clip that can be installed? I am trying to reinstall the old one. Would a new one be easier? I see what has to be done to lock the clip over the top of the shaft, but not having much luck yet. Been on this for about 45 minutes, time for a beer.

You place the round portion of the clip onto the end of the shaft, you will need to press down slightly to get the clip to align with the groovein the shaft and slide the clip into the slot.

Low buck, touring style, '73 Convertible "rolling restoration", 351c, 2v heads with a shave and a haircut, Performer intake, Holley 650(ish), roller rockers, screw in studs, guideplates, stainless valves, Duraspark / Motorsports MSD, T-5 conversion. 1-1/8" front, 3/4" rear swaybars KYB shocks and some home brewed subframe connectors. Future plans; JGC steering box, Cobra brakes and... paint, interior, etc.

When I die I want to die like grandpa, peacefully in my sleep... not screaming, like his passenger.

I have had it close several times. The tang on the clip goes on top of the shaft, right?

I got it. I was making it harder than it needed to be. When I removed it I didn't really look to see how it was secured on the shaft, it just sorta "pinged" off.
I have clip edges in the groove on the shaft and the tang is actually over the side of the shaft, instead of on top....................I hope this is right. Thanks..................

Ohh I remember doing that, I just about chucked a screwdriver across the garage out of frustration. It definitely makes it much easier to cycle the wipers to their upright position.

1971 Mustang convertible- My first car bought when I was 12 in 2008, re painted by me in 2013 with help from my boss and my dad! Still making it perfect!
