Different than the VIN I'm thinking... Where is the date-plate located? Is it a code? Or printed as you noted? Thanks!

On the driver side door, for FMX the code would be X

This is what it looks like

From what I have read the FMX primarily came on the 351 2v.

yup FMX came on the low end cars 351-2V being one... my 72 is originally a FMX, changed to a C6.

There were 14,246 1971 Fastbacks (to include Mach 1s) built with the FMX transmission and the 351 2V (H-Code) engineSmile.
