    Added Grille Lights

I've got to admit, that is strange to say the least!! An unbelievable "law" to say the least. I get that you want to bypass the yearly inspection, but not being able to drive at dusk or night is totally ridiculous. Do the state "idiots" think the car might fall apart after dark??

    P/S pump swap

If it works, job done! However, being as you have the old pump basically stripped, why not pull it apart and see if it's ok inside. I suggest taking pics as you go through it so you assemble it correctly. However, if shaft steel bushing is worn, i.e. the shaft can move (other than go round of...

Any idea what these nuts might be for?

Well, while we're here talking of things found in our cars from the factory, I found 3 almost pristine build sheets in mine. Not to brag or anything, but 3 seems to be very unusual. Two were under the back under pad, driver side and the third was under the front seat under pad. I'll not post the...

    P/S pump swap

I'll never claim to be an expert, but I have rebuilt a couple of pumps recently. In my case, it was leaks that needed to be fixed, but in the process, I went through the entire pump inner works. There is not much to these, but tolerances are very tight between the eccentric cam and the...

Any idea what these nuts might be for?

Talking of finding things in our cars that were dropped by line workers, I found a brake pedal rubber (4 speed car) under the front carpet under pad, so had been there since day 1. I still have it in my stash.

    Added Grille Lights

I found this Hella H4 lamp that has a "position bulb" built in. I'll order one and take a look at it. It may take a while to get it, slow delivery time, but a possibility. I think it will need modifying so the second bulb works as a DRL. It's worth a try. Sorry, the link I found shows some of my...

    Added Grille Lights

That's an excellent suggestion, thank you. I think I/we are all thinking along the same lines now. It is a pity however that members with standard grills won't be able to tap into this idea. That said, there might be a way to add DRL's by utilizing conversion headlight lamps that have a...

    Added Grille Lights

I've done the same thing using the lower lamps, but then the rear lights are on as well and that may confuse people behind. However, I don't understand why you can only drive in daylight. I know the US has some weird laws, but that doesn't make any sense to me. What I need to do is find the best...

New Rear Spring Sway Bar Plate is too Narrow for the U-Bolts

Ah, thank you for your very good explanation. That clears up my question and I'm sure, useful to others. So, all will be good once done.

    Dash lights. Led ?

Rereading my comment, I realized I should have said LED turn signal lights, back and front, not just the LED's in the dash display. I remember now I did have to do a little tweaking to get good grounds on the circuit board and clean the copper strip as well.

    Added Grille Lights

That's worth considering Chris. However, the current bulb sockets are not grounded directly, but through the wiring. I'm far from being an electrical 'guy', but I'm open to all suggestions and ideas. Who knows, other might also be thinking of running DRL's. In Ontario and no doubt in the US as...

    Dash lights. Led ?

Dash LED's have been written about a zillion times. The one's I bought from www.HiPoParts.com , the Elite Series II, all had the pos side marked. I bought all my LED's from Bill with the exception of the headlight LED's NOTE: installing LED turn signal bulbs require a grounded LED flasher on...

New Rear Spring Sway Bar Plate is too Narrow for the U-Bolts

I'm just curious now. If you car has a swapped in Cougar rear axle, what was the shock set-up on that? It wasn't staggered shock or the plates would be there I'm thinking. So my question is; did your car originally have staggered shocks? I mentioned this before, but did not get a direct answer...

    Added Grille Lights

Chris, this is useful information. But not for what you are intending to do. I want to look at adding "Daylight Running Lights", DLR's, into the front grill lamps. These would be (probably) either connected directly into a keyed hot wire or relayed. I have a set of lamps I can adapt by adding a...

New Rear Spring Sway Bar Plate is too Narrow for the U-Bolts

Question; if your car is a 71 Mach 1 4V, why do you not already have staggered shock plates? Did you car originally have staggered shocks, i.e. M code 4V? If not very hard to retro fit. Oh wait, I think I just realized what's going on. Someone thought they'd just through in a Cougar rear end...

New Rear Spring Sway Bar Plate is too Narrow for the U-Bolts

First, was the sway bar the new REVISED Addco 990? (assuming you went with the 7/8" bar!!) It will work if they sold you the old design, but the new fit's much better at the frame mounts. Here is a pic of my plates and U bolts. The plates are original, but when the new bar and rear springs were...
