What did you do today instead of working on your Mustang?

Been doing some spring yard cleanup and removing stumps. My neighbor has some toys and offered to come do the hard work. The space next to the garage will be filled and levelled for a gravel parking area.

    Water pump issue

Factory rating was 13psi. No real need for a 19psi unless it's something the coolant requires.

Any idea what these nuts might be for?

When I pulled the interior out of the Cougar, a couple screws and the knockout for the accessory power feed were stuck to the underside of sound deadener. In the Mach I found a handful of trim screws and a quarter window trim.

    Yella Terra rocker arm failure

Exactly as Chuck said, that's how it should have been handled. It was quite obvious the seat was never installed. That's the difference between sales and engineering. Somthing that applies now more than ever - "expect what you inspect"

    Sheet metal replacement

Since NPD in Ocala is about three hours from you, that's where I'd go. View the car collection and pick up your parts.

    Mach 1 questions

To learn more about the 71 cars, start with the Salesman's Facts Book that we have in the Wiki section. It covers the standard features of the 71s, and will help you figure out what the car is and has for options. https://cdn.imagearchive.com/7173mustangs/images/71factbook.pdf...

    SWAPMEET! Got lucky....maybe.

Hit our local swap this morning, picked up a Holley 4180 from an '83 Mustang GT. Was looking for one from an auto, but this was the only one to be found. My buddy ended up picking up a bunch of parts for his dad's '51 Ford. Sometimes, you just never know what you'll find...

    Yella Terra rocker arm failure

It looks like the upper rocker had a different style of pushrod seat installed, without the splines like the lower. If it was, there would be witness marks in the aluminum body. I'm curious what YT has to say about this issue.

    Brake System help

Same here. My thought is that if you can't get the valve to re-center on it's own, it needs to be rebuilt anyway.

New Rear Spring Sway Bar Plate is too Narrow for the U-Bolts

Yeah, those have some funny business going on. You can just use two of the RH plates. FYI - looks like the pic is wrong. https://www.npdlink.com/product/plate-rear-spring-rh-or-lh/104834?backurl=search%2Fproducts%3Fsearch_terms%3D5796%26top_parent%3D200001%26year%3D1973&year=1973

    Original air filter or reproduction?

The air cleaner assembly you have is from a '68/'69 vintage 302 or 351. The air cleaner with the flex hose to the air intake is the correct part for '73.

New Rear Spring Sway Bar Plate is too Narrow for the U-Bolts

The staggered shock plates are $450 for the repops - ouch. You can use two RH plates with a staggered shock car.

New Rear Spring Sway Bar Plate is too Narrow for the U-Bolts

Likely thar you have a 71-73 Cougar rear axle in your car. The wedge/clamp/insulator combo was never used on a 71-73 Mustang. Your shock plates are wider to accommodate the extra parts. The Mustang u-bolts are almost butted up against the axle perch.

    Happy 429 Day

I think a bunch of the CJ/PI parts were later used in Ford's marine engines. I bought a takeout from a local dealer, it had 72 PI heads with screw in studs and guideplates, 70 SCJ intake and CJ/Truck rods with the football headed rod bolts. The block and crank were standard 2 bolt 460 parts.

    Options and Features

Yes, the Convenience Group was a standalone option. 71 and early 72 seat belt warning system was part of the Deluxe Belts option, which was standard on convertibles. There was no buzzer, only a timed "Belts" light to the left of the headlight switch.
