Don't you love the "I'm gonna fix'er up one of these day, guys!"

But it all depends on what his definition of 'fix her up' means. For many people it's do enough stuff to pass inspection and drive around the block. Not everyone has a full blown restoration in mind. Still doesn't mean it will happen...

    4R70W transmission swap

Hello Bubba, I haven't done the swap, but have been considering either a 5 speed manual or AOD swap. But I've been talking to a transmission rebuilder and he says he doesn't even want to mess with AODs anymore. Not strong enough (we weren't even talking high hp/tq) and not a real 4th overdrive...

That's what I told my wife....don't sell anything until I am room temperature.

    SWAPMEET! Got lucky....maybe.

Oh, and then I ran into CWalker on the way to the van. He said he thought about buying the heads when the guy told him $100. But, he seemed happy with a transmission and rear gear set he bought from someone else. Something about he had some space in his garage to fill and the heads weren't big...

    SWAPMEET! Got lucky....maybe.

Went to a swapmeet today. Wasn't there half an hour and spotted a couple cleveland cylinder heads. The one I could see was open chamber, but you have to look anyway, right? Sure enough it's an open chamber 4v D3 head. Spun the other one around and it's also a 4v...closed chamber. D1AE GA. Look...

One More Time, Happy 430 Day

I think I see where the shaker and a few other Ford hood scoops came from.

    What is this?

Looks like a ballast resistor with a thermal sensor/switch (much like the ones on my dryer and refridgerator). Maybe it cuts current once the engine is warm?

    Body side molding

I was just thinking that the end tip being a separate piece it may have been used on something else. Lots of cars and trucks from Ford/Lincoln/Mercury around that time. They could use something like that for 10 years.

    Body side molding

Since Ford put that type molding on other models, I wonder if the tips are the same?

Mach 1 in movie The Hill

One of my favorites was an old war movie, possibly John Wayne, about the battle for Guadalcanal. The US was pulling troops out as the Japanese were coming to invade. Not enough time or ships/planes to get everyone out. Typical dire and depressing tale of "We, who are about to die...". It was...

Parts Wanted '72 Mach 1 grille center bracket needed

Well....no sign of it. I can picture it, including the bends. But no clue where it got off to. I'll keep looking, but don't wait on me if you find another.

Parts Wanted '72 Mach 1 grille center bracket needed

That is the info I was looking for. I may have the bracket you are looking for. If so, it is a little bent, but very salvageable. I have a bracket. Not sure if it is 71, 71/72, or 73. Won't know until I retrieve it from storage.

Parts Wanted '72 Mach 1 grille center bracket needed

Yeah, I'm familiar with two grilles. Just wondering if the support bracket is different for each type.

Are the brackets different between the standard grille and Mach1?

Any good 71-2-3 Mustang books ever published

In those days, it seemed that each new generation of Mustang tended to ape the front end styling of the previous generations Shelby. The 69 was very reminiscent of the 68 Shelby and the 71 (with the squared off front end) looked like the 69-70 Shelby. Most specifically the 71 Boss with the...
