Air Suspension - GeoBW - 06-01-2018

Hi Guys, looking to air suspend my 73 Mach 1. Have searched the suspension forum but can't find a thread, which can't be right, someone must have done it! Please point me in the right direction.

If not who has done this? Which system? Cost? Issues?

Thanks in advance.

Air suspension Trivia for you.
Ford offered a full all four corner air suspension in 1958 and 1959, NOBODY wanted it. I have never seen one. Of course in later years they did come out. The Lincoln Mark VIII had air bags that dropped the car when you went over a certain speed to a lower height.
Seems like a lot of work for no reward unless you like a low rider.
I was watching the car show where they give you a value the other day and they took money off because a 1964 chevy had air bags and not original.
Your car do it your way.

Hi David, I wanted to lower the car anyway and it will need a suspension overhaul as part of the restomod. From what I can see air suspension has come a long way over the years.

I'm building this car for the 'theatre' of a muscle car, lumpy cam, custom exhaust/headers, mild engine, candy apple paint. It's one of a collection so it will be driven rarely it's not built to handle or go fast ...

So I want it long and low and it looks like air can allow me to lower it the most, but then have the versatility to go where ever.

That's the thinking at this point, but ask me again in six months  Wink

Okay, so this thread is so dead!

Spoke to a mechanic today and here in Oz you can only bag commercial vehicles (with government approval), unless it's a hot rod, and no, there's no way I can get my Mach 1 to qualify.

So, end of story.

Boy they are strict on cars down there.

Yea, it got me curious, so I did a little Googling and it appears that importing anything custom is almost impossible and the same iwth mods once in the country.

I guess they just don't have the car culture that we have .
