I saw that it looks most promising-but those of us with manual steering are still left out in the cold.

Yeah its a copy of the GM Hydroboost but for a Ford to replace the Vacuum booster on the brakes. If you run a hopped up motor with a big cam they don't make a lot of vacuum at low RPM's so the brakes get soft (mine does it all the time since it has a 108 center line). I have a friend with a 68 Camaro he modified the hell out of and same deal big blower, cam etc so he opted to go with the Hydroboost so the thing has brakes, says that it works awesome. The draw back of that system is if you have a power steering pump failure no brakes, if you lose a line again no brakes, if the motor dies no brakes. So it has its draw backs but mostly positive.

I'm running a vacuum can and have the parts to build an electric pump system using a Volvo vac pump, but so far the can has been enough. I like the redundancy of having multiple vacuum sources.
