The manifold is back at the welder to have fuel rail mounting brackets welded on.. Waiting sucks Sad

Here's a picture of what it looks like off of the engine. More exciting pictures will hopefully be coming on Friday.

Still need to mount the 02 sensor.. broke the studs going from the manifold to the exhaust pipe trying to get them off (pretty much a given). I'm getting close, but I'm done making predictions on when it will be done.. You'll know when I post a video lol.

Should be an interesting set up. Keep us posted and good luck.

Damn this is a sweet project! Keep the updates coming! I for sure would love to go turbo in the future.

Thanks for the kind words! I picked up a new optima red top today, and I need to find a 20v zener diode to clean up my tach signal. Right now its just a matter of getting it idling, setting the timing and tuning the damn thing. I am going to make up some wiring diagrams not only for my personal reference, but to make this swap easier on anyone who wants to do it. Keep in mind, this swap can be done for significantly less using a TBI setup that would bolt up to carb manifold with an adapter... I just have other plans.

WOW, what a cool project. I'd like to go with fuel injection but am not sure about the complexity. What experience with fuel injection and electronics did you have before beginning this project?

I swapped fuel injectors on my other car lol.. I had little to no real experience with fuel injection systems, I was interested in this project because I wanted to learn about them. I never soldered before, and honestly only have a basic understanding of electronic systems. I still have no tuning experience, but have a good idea of what I need to do. The beauty of megasquirt is that everything is open source, meaning all the information is given to you. If you are interested check out www.megamanual.com and just click through it. There is a ton of information to digest, so I bookmarked it and kept reading more and more when I had the time. If you have any questions, even if you think they are stupid feel free to ask. I'd have no problem explaining anything to anyone.

Thank you, usually I am not intimidated by attempting new projects but this seems daunting. I'll definately check out the manual. If I have any "dumb" questions I'll PM... Hopefully none in the open forums Big Grin.

Well, I'm close.. damn close. I got my new battery, a charger, the diode (which I don't actually need), new plugs and wires (not installed yet) and tried starting it again today. It seems like I've been flooding the engine, my fuel pressure was set at 60 psi (should be 40-45ish). I pulled the injector fuses and cranked it, got a nice big backfire out of it lol, so hopefully the flood is cleared. I killed the battery with all the cranking I did today, hoping I didn't wash the rings; but didn't see any smoke. I'm not too excited to change the plugs or assemble the sausage sized universal spark plug wires, but its all in the name of American horsepower lmao.
