Weekly Fun Question - Test Your 71-73 Mustang Knowledge
Posted by: cobra3073 - 09-28-2010, 03:02 PM - Forum: Site News - Replies (2)

Good Day All!

As a result of what we believe is a very good suggestion (Thanks Doc), it has been decided to make a couple of changes to how we handle the "Weekly Fun Question" on the forums.

Starting this week, the question will be posted every Saturday at approximately 7:00 P.M. (CST). Instead of posting the responses to the Forum involved, we will be asking that the response be PM'd to me (with a courtesy copy to Barry (Rocketfoot)).

The first correct PM will still be the "winner" but I will not post up that information until the following Monday. It is hoped that using this approach will encourage more of you to submit your response to the question. Sending the message to Rocketfoot at the same time will "keep me honest" and hopefully negate the possibility that someone will think there is a "fix."

Again, this is for the Weekly Fun Question (not the Periodic Award Fun Question).

This is your site and we do not intend to operate in a "vacuum", so please feel free to post up with any concerns and/or additional suggestions you may have relative to this intended approach.

Thanks again!

In conjunction with Cobra's Weekly Fun Question prize, we also came up with nice little award icons that will be placed in your post profile. Each winner of the contest will receive the medal of honor! We're also toying around with some other forum awards for the near future! If you have any suggestions...reply here!Big Grin

  Special Periodic Award Fun Question
Posted by: cobra3073 - 09-21-2010, 08:51 AM - Forum: Site News - Replies (3)

Good Day All,

As you are aware, I have been generating a Weekly Fun Question every Tuesday relative to your knowledge of the '71 - '73 Mustangs. After consultation with Rocketfoot and 72HCODE, I have decided to generate a SPECIAL PERIODIC Fun Question in certain weeks that will earn the first correct responder with VIP membership (a 25$ value). For anyone who is already a VIP member, a 25$ postal money order will be sent directly to them.

To ensure fairness, information will be provided as to when the SPECIAL question will be posted no later than Tuesday of the selected week. This PERIODIC question will be gleaned from information on the site.

There WILL be a SPECIAL question this week. The question will be posted at approximately 7:00 PM (CST) on Saturday of this week. The first person who post up with the COMPLETE correct response to the question will receive the award.

Keep in mind that I still intend to generate a REGULAR Weekly Fun Question (non-award) in the weeks when there are no special Saturday question.

Again, there will NOT be a Tuesday Weekly Fun Question this week, BUT there will be an award-based Periodic Fun Question to be posted on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at approximately 7:00 PM (CST).

It should be interesting!

  7173 Mustangs Garage Added!
Posted by: rocketfoot - 09-10-2010, 10:47 AM - Forum: Site News - No Replies

Hey guys! I'm excited to announce the addition of a Garage Forum to our site! I'm still working on a few minor issues with layout and stuff, but it is ready for some testers to give it a try! Please post any questions or comments in this thread so I can track them.

The link is in the nav bar above or here:

Just a few notes...each member's garage will hold 5 images (1 cover image and 4 others) The cover image is required. It will also allow up to 4 optional modification images such as detail shots of your wheels, interior or whatever.

All uploaded garage images must be 1024x768 or less in size (up to 3mb in file size)
You can also attach or hotlink more photos in the body of the vehicle description if you like. These images and be almost anysize and will resize automatically to fit the forum margins.

When creating a new garage thread, please include the year and trim level of your car to help with searching...example: 1972 Mustang Mach 1 or 1973 Mustang Convertible, etc.

I hope you guys enjoy the new garage!

  Car Show Flyer

I'm not the greatest artist, but I made a little 7173mustangs.com flyer that one could print out and display at a car show or cruise! It's in pdf format and prints nicely on a color printer! Might also make a nice drop flyer for when you see another 71-73 Mustang at a show!

As most have already seen, 72HCODE is a walking encyclopedia of 71-73 info! So we have added him to the 7173Mustangs Staff as a Super Mod/Technical Advisor! Just a little way to help thank him for the priceless information that he has been supplying to our forum pages! Cool

  Racing Forum Added!
Posted by: rocketfoot - 08-16-2010, 02:51 PM - Forum: Site News - Replies (3)

By request, I added a new forum under Odds and Ends called "Racing!" You can discuss drag racing adventures, car set up and 1/4 mile times. Please avoid street racing stories. We all know modern street racing is illegal and dangerous. We don't need that in the forums. The only exception would be the stories I hear at every car show about street racing in the 50's and 60's. I think the statutory limit has expired on those stories so feel free to tell an old tale or two!! Big Grin Times were just different back then, it was part of the car guy culture!

Have fun and stay safe!

New Default Skin and Chat Added!
Posted by: rocketfoot - 08-14-2010, 07:41 AM - Forum: Site News - Replies (6)

This is just an official announcement that a new skin and a chat room have been added to the forums!

If you would like to continue using the old skin, it is still available in he theme chooser at the bottom right of any page. Just select "Simple Blue" and click Change.

The Chat button is located in the page links at the top of the board.

Hope everyone enjoys the new additions!

  The 7173 Wiki is live!
Posted by: rocketfoot - 07-30-2010, 06:47 AM - Forum: Site News - Replies (7)

I just got done adding an extensive mod that will allow us to start building an online Wikipedia style encyclopedia of information and knowledge on 71-73 Mustangs! You can easily create articles and tutorials on stuff such as how to install a dash pad, how to do remove an engine or even how to reskin a body panel. You can also add attachments such as PDF files or images so you can upload old brochures and service literature, etc...anything that you think may be helpful to someone down the road.

The code is fresh so let me know if you encounter any problems. I hope you enjoy the new Wiki and I hope it grows into a great resource full of 71-73 knowledge!
