    front fender extension

Are all body color front fender extensions the same for 71 and 72? I'm asking because I test fitted the front bumper on my 72 Mach 1 today and got a very ugly surprise. Right side fits well, the left side has the leading edge vertical surface pointing towards the center of the grille. Neither the fender or the extension appeared to be damaged when I prepped them for paint.

Welcome to 70's Ford fitment. Notice at shows everyone seems to fit different.

I think the chrome bumpers fit better, I've had 2 of them and both fit fine.

Any suggestions? Go find a half a dozen different ones hoping to find one that actually fit? I've done a lot of cars and never seen anything this bad! I have to do something as I can not live with this (it raises my BP).

Normal--expect to do some massaging. Preferably, before painting.... The '73 I did a few years ago had incredible bumper fitment on the drivers side. The passengers side stuck out at the bottom a bit. Never could get it "perfect". I haven't gotten that far with my '72.
