February 2012 COTM: 73 Mach 1 Project
I just saw the November COTM, congrats FastE, and thought it would be fun so here's my car's story.

It all started when I asked my dad if we could get a project car, I was 13 at the time. He finally gave in and we were looking at different cars and a friend of ours was restoring a 67 mustang coupe with his son and we really wanted to get a 67-68 fastback. But we came across, on ebay, this 73 mach 1 in Mississippi and on my way to school my dad asked if we should get it and me being in a hurry said "sure, I don't care." When I got home my dad said he had bought it and I was shocked. He and brother went to get it and brought it home the day after my golden birthday. After a few titling set backs and building a garage later we finally got started on it, about two years later. We started with taking the old and tired 302 out and putting in a new to us 351C. After, that we put in all new brakes and then we replaced the floorboards, which I dreaded. I had never welded before and wasn't very good at metal work but with the help of our mustang friend we got them in and I learned a lot. I'm probably forgetting some small things but thats about it.

Thanks for looking.

Here's a video of it moving under its own power, first time with the 351C. Click on the picture for the video.

That is a great story, especially about the road to get there with building a garage and all. Very cool that you have a dad and family and friends to help you along with the project, and you are doing the "hard" stuff like welding and metal work!

Thanks guys, I have learned a lot so far and it is what sparked my interests on fixing cars and now I'm going to school for it.

We're thinking either a gunmetal grey metallic or a deep red metallic. I'm kinda leaning towards the grey with the black mach 1 stripes with my own little twist.

Thanks again guys. It's diffidently a project that I have more will and skill to put in than money. It has sparked so many different interests. This spring and summer I'm going to hit it hard.
